In 2010, students at the Dept of Motion Design at Ringling Art College (Florida, USA) created a range fantastic creative plays on Muybridge’s work:
However, Muybridge’s work continues to influence much of what we see in our contemporary visual world.
For example, the Wachowski brothers, who wrote and created the three Matrix films, have spoken extensively about the influence of Muybridge on their work. The visual effect they created of “bullet time” was filmed using techniques deriving directly from Muybridge:
U2’s video for “Lemon” made strong creative use of Muybridge’s aesthetics and ideas:
A lot has been written about the influence of Muybridge’s work on artists of the 20th century such as Edgar Degas, Francis Bacon, and Marcel Duchamp.
