A Halo of Intrigue - John Ruskin

"The great cities of the earth… have become… loathsome centres of fornication and covetousness". Wow. Well John Ruskin certainly didn't mince his words back in 1880. Known for his moralistic writings on art and society, but not so much for his art, we've found a drawing of his that really caught our eye. It's on auction in London on 11th July.

Tintin - From all sides

Original Tintin drawings don't come cheap. Particularly recently, the prices have risen dramatically. But it's also been a time when a lot of material has come to the market. This drawing however is a wonderful one - and really different. Which is why we like it! On auction by Sothebys in Paris on 4th July.

Art for a Green Room

Updated on Jun 29, 2012 by Registered CommenterAebhric

This fresh and beautiful home in Denver, Colorado was featured yesterday on Apartment Therapy. Here's our suggestion of works on sale today, 28th June.

London - An alternative view from 1969

Updated on Jun 30, 2012 by Registered CommenterAebhric

There's a magnetism to this image. Made by the artist Dieter Roth (1930-1998) in 1969-70, this double-sided silkscreen print was part of a series of works based on postcard images of Piccadilly Circus in London. Both the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Tate in London have copies of this particular work, which is on auction this Thursday 28th June for a reasonable estimate of STG£2,000-3,000.

Andy Warhol - Garden tales

Updated on Jun 30, 2012 by Registered CommenterAebhric

We like our Warhol a little different. With the millions of re-editions, his prolific output, and the exorbitant prices of original silkscreens, Warhol is in fact one of the trickier artists to know how to buy. On 28th June, however, there's a chance to buy a wonderful bound collection of lithographs from c.1956 at auction in London.

Flowers in Hand - Picasso

Updated on Jun 30, 2012 by Registered CommenterAebhric

This Picasso print is a real discovery for us. It's a remarkably striking image and rich with possible meaning. A simple colourful portrait of flowers yet so much more. On auction at Bloomsburys in London on 28th June.
